Nurturing curiosity and fostering purposeful learning in a caring, child-centred environment.
About
Kindergarten
The Early Childhood program at GEMS International School follows the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP) alongside the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). Our inquiry-based, play-driven curriculum is tailored to meet each child’s individual needs, adhering to principles of developmentally appropriate practice by encouraging children to explore their own interests. This approach empowers them to take responsibility for their learning, fostering both independence and collaboration.
Students are immersed in an inclusive classroom environment that is a safe and nurturing space for them to learn, grow, and explore. Through the IB Learner Profile, our children develop as inquirers, knowledgeable and caring individuals committed to creating a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding, respect, and tolerance.
Aligned with the school’s vision of trust, respect, and ambition, the program nurtures creativity, curiosity, and problem-solving, building a strong foundation for lifelong learning and global citizenship.

A sense of community

Our inclusive environment fosters belonging and connection, empowering everyone to contribute their unique strengths. Play-based learning
Play-based learning is a cornerstone of Early Childhood education in an IB school, fostering holistic development and a lifelong love of learning. Rooted in the belief that children learn best through exploration and interaction, this approach combines purposeful play with inquiry-driven activities, encouraging curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking.
Through play, children develop cognitive, social, emotional, and physical skills in a natural, engaging way. It allows them to take ownership of their learning, follow their interests, and make meaningful connections to the world around them. Play-based learning also supports the IB Learner Profile, helping children become independent, reflective, and globally-minded individuals.
In an IB Early Childhood classroom, play is both intentional and flexible, offering opportunities for collaboration, problem-solving, and self-expression. By incorporating real-world scenarios, imaginative play, and hands-on exploration, children build confidence and resilience while developing essential skills for success in school and beyond.
Diversity
GEMS International School celebrates diversity with 105 nationalities (and growing), fostering a community built on diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEI-B). As an IB World School, we nurture intercultural competence, global citizenship, and international-mindedness, empowering students to embrace multiple perspectives and collaborate across cultures. Our multilingual environment inspires curiosity and respect, preparing learners to thrive in a connected world while contributing as compassionate, globally conscious leaders.
