Medical Care
GEMS International School - Al Khail has a well-equipped medical clinic under the control of three professionally-qualified nurses and qualified first aiders. All cases of injury or illness receive immediate medical attention. Our school doctor is Dr. Sanam Shaikh.
The School Clinic is located on the ground floor, off the main foyer, providing quality medical service to our students and staff. It features a waiting area, observation beds and medical equipment of the highest standards including a nebulizer, glucometer, ENT diagnostic set, sphygmomanometer, defibrillator and oxygen cylinder to name just some of the equipment at hand to support our students.
We have three school nurses, present during the school day to assist the doctor and administer first aid as and when required. If children are unwell while at school, they will be cared for at the clinic until collected by a parent, guardian or carer.
Please ensure our nurses have a copy of your child's up to date vaccination records and you inform them of any allergies and medical condition your child has, before their first day with us.
Health services that are in line with the KHDA, the Dubai Health Authority School Health Guidelines and DBS's policies are also offered to students such as tips and advice on general health, healthy lunch boxes and snacks, injury prevention, immunity boosting and staying fit.
GIS follows the guidelines set by the Healthy Eating Initiative and we ask parents to refrain from letting their children bring any fizzy/soft drinks, sweets, chocolates, or anything in glass containers into school. Additionally, due to the prevalence of nut allergies, please do not let your child bring any products containing nuts to school (including all nut butters and peanut butter). We are also a pork-free school.
Our school campus is well equipped with first aid kits at different locations which enables a faster response and treatment of injuries. We have water dispensers throughout the campus to encourage all our students to drink plenty of water during the day.
As a school we are rated Outstanding for Health and Safety by the KHDA, and have an excellent record in all extremal reviews. As should be the case our students are a real concern and their health and well being an absolute priority.
